Black History Month
Black History Month, originating in 1926 was initiated by Charles Woodson, a distinguished historian, and the second Black American to achieve a Ph.D. from Harvard University. He observed the tendency to overlook, suppress, and ignore the contributions and accomplishments of African Americans. In response, Woodson established Negro History Week as a means to celebrate and highlight these often neglected aspects of history, science, and other philosophical advancements. Over time, this initiative evolved into the now-celebrated Black History Month.
As MTREP continues to engage in discussions with our fellow community members about the significance of these and various other topics or issues impacting our community, we want to spotlight some enlightening videos for your education during this crucial month.
